RF Design: AVS-006 (Programmable Clock Synthesizer Module)
The AVS-006 clock synthesizer module produces a low phase noise clock of arbitrary frequency from a 10 MHz reference input. The AVS-006 is capable of producing clock rates that do not have an integer relation to the input 10 MHz reference. The AVS-006 uses FPGA technology to produce clock rates of arbitrary fractional relations to the input 10 MHz reference. The AVS-006 is typically used to produce an input clock for high speed Direct Digital Synthesizers that require an input clock frequency that is a power of two in order to operated with zero frequency error.
The AVS-006 uses an inexpensive FPGA and a series of phase look loop circuits to produce a low phase noise arbitrary output frequency. The AVS-006 is used to provide a clock output that is phase locked to the input 10 MHz reference but does not have an integer relation in frequency.
